The Mid / Late Nineties have been a very hard time for the genre Thrash Metal, a lot of scene heros like ANTHRAX, METALLICA, TESTAMENT, … released only mediocre albums and the Thrash fanbase constantly got smaller and smaller, while other Metal genres like Nu-Metal, Funk Metal and the booming Alternative scene nearly were exploding. The time for primitive, savage and fast Metal music was over and a lot of listeners and musicians were looking for something new, even Die Hard Thrash Metal legend KREATOR from Germany was facing a lot ot changes. This progress started with their albums „Renewal“ (1992), „Cause For Conflict“ (1995) and was continued with „Outcast“ that saw the light of day in the year 1997. „Outcast“ is another experimental release were KREATOR was trying out new sounds / musical atmospheres without leaving their original Metal roots, elements of Gothic and Heavy Metal as well as Avantgarde were included, over all the sound got more catchy, yeah let´s say more melodic. Love or hate that album, this is your decision, but it´s a fact that without all this musical experiments and changes of sound KREATOR was able to survive the booming Nu-Metal period and years later they were able to come back with a big bang (don´t forget the song „Phobia“ of the „Outcast“ album is one of the best KREATOR songs ever).
The original pressing of „Outcast“ was done as 12″ LP in the year 1997 by GUN RECORDS, Germany.
Over the top official re-release on Transparent Red / Orange vinyl, housed in a thick gatefold cover and with printed innersleeves (sleevenotes from Mille Petrozza are added too). This double LP includes the original (but remastered) songs plus eleven bonus live tracks recorded during the Dynamo Open Air, The Netherlands in the year 1998.
