VOIVOD is one of the best-known Thrash Metal, Speed Metal bands from Canada, they were formed 1982 in Jonquière, Quebec (the french speaking part of Canada), their music, their artwork as well as their lyrics were some kind of unique. „War And Pain“ marks the early raw and savage period of the band, although VOIVOD plays Early Eighties Thrash Metal on the album „War And Pain“, their sound was different, strange and dissonnant, not like the normal Speed Metal music of these times. In addition to the savage and wild music, the construct of the VOIVOD (an alien creature invented by the band and going through changes, progresses with every album) is new-born, young and wild, a savage monster that perfectly reflects the musical style of the band of that time. The album „War And Pain“ is a must for every fan of Early Thrash Metal, Speed Metal made in Northern America, a perfect chance to learn about they early days of the band, most of you might only know their newer and progressive work.
